We love Cornwall and we hope you do too. Whether you’re a visitor or a local, here’s some things you can do to help keep Cornwall beautiful, and also do your bit to save the planet.
Conserve energy
We dim our lights, use LEDs and generally turn things off when they’re not used. You can do the same, which saves money too.
Give the car a rest
We know we’re in the middle of nowhere, and it’s hard to get to us without a car, but while you’re here, why not put on some walking shoes and explore the coast path, or go for a paddle on the beach...there’s nearly two miles of it!
Shop local
Our local sourcing policy is one of the reasons our food tastes great. Less travelling means less pollution, fresher food, and you support the local economy as well. It’s a ‘win win win’ situation.
Reduce, reuse, recycle
The motto of many these days. The less we use in the first place the better, but it all goes towards minimal amounts of rubbish going to landfill.
Save water
Every little helps. Try not to leave taps running and get leaks fixed straight away.
We have a number of water saving devices within the restaurant which reduce flush water usage and airators on our taps to reduce water flow. All this can be done at home too.
Respect Nature
Every month we help The Hotel, Watergate Bay with a beach clean. You wouldn’t believe what gets washed up!!!
Help us take care of our beautiful location by not littering (including cigarette butts) and utilising the bins around the bay. Stick to the coast paths and try to leave things ‘as you found it.’
Support those striving to make a difference
There are many like ourselves who are constantly striving to work in the most sustainable way.
You can find directories of businesses on websites such as www.green-business.co.uk (Green Tourism Business Scheme) and www.cstn.org (Coast Project)
